I spent some time in the Edge Lane area of Kensington, Liverpool, yesterday. It’s a profoundly depressing place – street after street of tinned up but perfectly desirable homes that have been standing largely empty for several years now, ostensibly to make way for a road-widening scheme.
Walking through those deserted streets just made me wonder where the original community have all gone. A few stragglers remain, and are currently waiting for the results of a second public inquiry following their challenge to the CPO put in by English Partnerships.
I’ll post more about it in due course, but for the meantime I thought I’d share a few snaps I took there. I think the sense of desolation comes through quite well.
