the year that was

(my favourite shots from 2009)

It’s been a busy year for me but one in which I’ve made some inspiring new friends, worked on some interesting and important (I think) stories and increasingly found my direction.
If someone had told me when I bought my first camera two Christmases ago that I’d be about to return to uni to study photojournalism, I would never have believed them…even this time last year I would have been sceptical. I also wouldn’t have imagined that I’d have learned the basics of audio editing and had a couple of multimedia pieces bought by the BBC. Audio and multimedia had barely crossed my horizon before March this year.
I’m excited and very nervous about returning to education, albeit only part-time. I can’t help but feel anxious about juggling work and college assignments, and about getting enough work in to keep myself going. These are exciting – if hairy – times to work in the media.

MERRY NEW YEAR everyone……good luck for 2010 and see you on the other side.
