I didn’t expect to find one of my own photos staring back at me from an advert as I flicked through the Big Issue in the North the other day.
Rupali was one of four little case studies I did for Action Aid in Mumbai last year, to be used to encourage people to sponsor children in the slums, which hopefully it has.
I know that after hearing me talk about what I saw there, my parents ended up sponsoring a little boy as close as was possible to Kolkata, where my dad’s family lived for many generations. One of the features that ran at the time can be seen HERE.
update: This and at least one other of my images have been running in ads in the Guardian all week and are also being used on posters on the London underground.
(thanks to Gualtiero Fisauli for the photo)
