in the dog house

I think I'm in the bad books of Liverpool's housing mandarins.
An article I wrote earlier this month for the Big Issue in the North on the city's regeneration scheme did not go down well.
The piece told the story of housing renewal from the perspective of people living on condemned streets in Toxteth and Anfield, and raised concerns that alternatives to demolition are being ignored. More than 3,750 homes are due to be bulldozed in the Liverpool's regeneration areas between now and 2018.
When writing the feature, I spoke to the executive council member for housing, Marilyn Fielding. She felt unwell, so asked me to call to her deputy, Cllr Frank Doran, who I quoted at length.
When the piece came out though, housing officials claimed they had not been approached for a comment. They were offered a 'right of reply' - which will be in the magazine from tomorrow. Scroll down to read it.
Laughably, the person who wrote it is none other than Cllr Fielding - the very person I tried to speak to in the first place. Tellingly, not one factual inaccuracy is pointed out. It seems it was actually the "negative" tone of the article which offended them.
