community, interrupted

I’ve made a short slideshow of some photos I’ve been taking in Salford as part of an ongoing, personal documentary project. I’ve written about housing market renewal for a few years now so it makes sense to try and use it as the basis for a photographic project – thanks to David for pointing out the obvious to me. I have been a bit slack at getting down there recently but after am determined to redouble my efforts once I’m back from India. Anyway, I’ve done this really as a means to keep tabs on what I’ve got. Very basic, but it’s a start.

The context
It’s just basically a record of what’s happening to one little corner of Salford, which has been left to rot but is now slowly beginning to be regenerated. People fought to keep their homes but lost and many now have to leave. Demolition squads are knocking down homes and leaving empty voids. No developer is involved in the project as yet, and in the current economic climate it looks unlikely to happen for a long time.
