litany of let-downs
There's an interesting piece on the lifestyle site Liverpool Confidential about an artist who is standing for election tomorrow - in protest about the way the Capital of Culture preparations are being handled.
Alex Corina was involved in the bid for next year's event but now feels disillusioned about how artists and communities have been sidelined.
So he has registered as an independent candidate, as an "artistic protest" to what's going on, with what else for campaign material but a painting - of Liverpool's "litany of letdowns" being sold down the river.

He says: "I'm angry and frustrated at the way 2008 has been mishandled by the council. The council's obsession with the city centre means the suburbs have missed out.
“Promises of regeneration have come to nothing. Key appointments have been bungled. And Liverpool's creative community has been sidelined by bureaucrats."
